Boxing Drama Unfolds: Adams Collapses at Weigh-In, Agyarko Fight Canceled!
Junior middleweight Brandon Adams was forced to withdraw from his highly anticipated fight against Caoimhin Agyarko, scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2026. The abrupt cancellation came after Adams collapsed in his Las Vegas hotel room on Friday morning, just before his scheduled weigh-in. He was immediately hospitalized, marking a significant turn of events for the DMG Boxing "Night of Champions" event.
Adams, who is reported to be in stable condition and receiving IV fluids, experienced chest pain prior to his collapse, according to a representative from his team who spoke to ESPN. Following his hospitalization, Adams will remain overnight for observation. The fight, originally slated to take place at The Cosmopolitan, was consequently cancelled. In its place, the new main event for the PPV.com show will feature a women's bantamweight bout between Chantel Navarro and Perla Lomeli.
In a prepared statement, Adams' team conveyed his profound disappointment regarding his inability to compete. "He is absolutely crushed for not being able to participate in this fight," the statement read. "He gave everything he had in this camp and was looking forward to being at the doorstep of a world title opportunity. His heart goes out to his opponent Agyarko who travelled overseas to compete and is looking forward to making this fight happen immediately following his recovery."
Adams, with a professional record of 26-4 with 16 KOs, was coming off a unanimous decision victory over Serhii Bohachuk in September. That fight was part of the undercard for the high-profile Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez event at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. He is currently ranked as ESPN's eighth-ranked junior middleweight, highlighting the importance of the cancelled bout for his career trajectory.
