Botswana Prepares for Grand TreaKE WA BOTETI Festival, Promising Unforgettable Revelry

The 8th edition of a highly anticipated festival is slated to transform Mmatshumo into a hub of excitement on Christmas Day, with organisers promising an unforgettable and thrilling event for all attendees. This annual spectacle, now in its eighth year, continues to be a cornerstone of festive celebrations in the region.

Kabelo Mogwe, a prominent figure known for his work with the acclaimed musical group Culture Spears and a key organiser of the festival, has personally vouched for the high-calibre entertainment planned. He revealed an impressive and diverse lineup of artists set to grace the stage. The musical roster includes popular names such as Charma Gal, his own group Culture Spears, Vee, Franco, Johnny Mokhali, Dr Vom, Juu Matere, Smarh, Dikakapa, Bana Bana Ba Ntogwa, Disaitsaneng, and Phiriphamola. This extensive list ensures a wide range of musical genres and performances to captivate the audience throughout the day.

The festival will also feature a vibrant array of disc jockeys, ready to keep the energy high. The DJ lineup includes talents like DJ KSB, Hurricane & Cross, DJ Lebgee, and DJ Godi, promising an engaging soundscape to complement the live acts. Guiding the entire event with their charisma and wit will be a team of dynamic Masters of Ceremony (MCs). The hosting duties will be handled by Hey Nyena, April Gates, Shandy, Tapgee, and Bongani Mooki, ensuring a smooth flow and lively interaction with the crowd.

Beyond its primary role as an entertainment extravaganza, the festival is strategically designed to serve a significant societal purpose. Mogwe highlighted that the event will act as an important platform for various stakeholders to engage with the public. Notably, organisations such as the Boteti men-sector will be present to impart crucial messages regarding gender-based violence, aiming to raise awareness and foster positive change within communities. Similarly, the Botswana Gambling Authority will utilize the festival to educate attendees on the importance of responsible gambling, promoting safe practices and preventing potential harms.

In addition to these important community engagement initiatives, the festival will also foster local participation and economic activity. Trusts representing various villages from the Boteti region are expected to set up stalls at the event. These stalls will offer an opportunity for local communities to showcase their crafts, products, and initiatives, allowing attendees to connect with the rich cultural fabric and local enterprises of the Boteti area.
