BLACKPINK Duo Drops Bombshell Solo Projects in Surprise Twin Announcements!

The globally acclaimed K-Pop group BLACKPINK is entering a unique solo era, with multiple members announcing individual projects following a successful group reunion. This collective push into solo careers highlights the diverse artistic expressions of the artists.

JENNIE initiated this new phase by announcing her solo EP, "Fallen Angel," which is scheduled for release on August 28. This EP will feature a collection of three distinct songs: "FALLEN ANGEL," "HEAVEN," and "Less Than a Lover," providing fans with her latest individual musical insights.

Following JENNIE's announcement, both JISOO and LISA revealed their own upcoming solo endeavors on Monday, August 24. JISOO's project, simply titled "Click," was teased with a mysterious video featuring an unsettling, off-kilter carnival scene where animatronic figures twitched and glitched in the dark. The teaser confirmed September 4 as the release date. JISOO has long hinted at her solo ambitions, mentioning in a May interview with V Magazine that she was "working on showing a wider range of music" in her first full-length album, which she previously indicated could arrive in 2026. She further explained on Hot Ones in July that the recent BLACKPINK reunion encouraged her to return to the studio as a soloist to "further explore my true colors through this adventure I'm on." JISOO had also previously released the EP "Amortage."

LISA also shared details for her forthcoming set of songs, an EP named "Press Play," with an official release date of October 23. She unveiled the striking cover art for "Press Play," depicting her staring directly into the camera in a chic dress, her ultra-long hair flowing. LISA additionally announced that her first single from the EP, "SaWaDiKa," would be released earlier, on September 3. Reports from Vanity Fair in June had already indicated that LISA was in the midst of creating her sophomore album. Her previous solo album was titled "Alter Ego."

These individual creative pursuits arrive after a significant BLACKPINK reunion that commenced last year, which saw the quartet embark on a highly successful global stadium tour. In February, the group — consisting of JISOO, LISA, JENNIE, and ROSÉ — released their "Deadline EP," which debuted at an impressive No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart. Prior to this recent series of solo announcements, all four performers had previously taken time to cultivate their solo careers, with ROSÉ releasing "Rosie," LISA with "Alter Ego," JENNIE with "Ruby," and JISOO with "Amortage" during that earlier period of individual artistry.
