Beauty Queen Tesglam Makes History: Guinness World Records Confirms Marathon Makeup Feat

Nigerian makeup artist Theresa Emegwara, widely recognized as Tesglam, has officially been confirmed by Guinness World Records for her groundbreaking achievement: completing a continuous makeup application marathon that lasted an incredible 146 hours. This extraordinary feat, verified months after her marathon attempt, firmly cements her status in the global record books.
The record-setting event, aptly named "Glam 4–144," took place in August 2025 at the Landmark Boulevard in Lagos, Nigeria. Over a period of six consecutive days, Tesglam showcased remarkable resilience and dedication, applying makeup for a precise duration of 146 hours, 23 minutes, and 56 seconds. During this demanding challenge, she meticulously worked on more than 200 distinct faces, significantly surpassing the previous record of 103 hours which was held by a Ghanaian makeup artist.
Throughout its entire run, the marathon attracted considerable attention from various segments of society. Creatives, professional models, and members of the public converged at the venue to observe the live attempt, while a substantial online audience actively followed the progress. Landmark Boulevard played a pivotal role in the success of the event, furnishing the necessary space and providing comprehensive logistical support that enabled the extensive session to take place. Following a stringent official verification process, Tesglam was presented with her well-deserved Guinness World Records plaque and medal, symbolizing the triumphant culmination of meticulous planning, unwavering focus, and profound physical stamina.
The profound impact of Tesglam's achievement was highlighted by a visit from the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth during the marathon itself. Subsequent to the official confirmation of the record, the Commissioner extended heartfelt congratulations, remarking, "She has not only represented Lagos with pride but has also inspired young creatives to pursue excellence on a global stage." Tesglam herself graciously underscored the collaborative essence of her success, attributing the accomplishment to her extensive network of supporters. "I didn’t do this alone. From the team at Landmark to the volunteers, the models, and everyone cheering online, this record belongs to all of us," she articulated.
Tesglam’s record further enriches an increasingly distinguished compilation of Guinness World Records secured by Nigerians within the vibrant beauty industry. Notably, reality TV star and entrepreneur Anita Natacha Akide, more commonly known as Tacha, also etched her name in history on October 11, 2025, in Lagos. Tacha established two Guinness World Records for cosmetic makeovers: achieving the most makeovers completed in 8 hours (with 82 people) and in 24 hours (with 144 people). Her remarkable dual achievement, officially confirmed in November 2025, distinguished her as the first Nigerian to set two Guinness World Records in a single session, thereby further underscoring Nigeria's escalating influence and innovation in global beauty and creative endeavors.
