General Dagvin R.M. Anderson, the Commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), recently paid a high-level courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on a Sunday. General Anderson led a distinguished delegation from the United States, signifying the importance of the engagement between the two nations.

The US delegation present at the meeting included Keith Heffern, the Charge d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria; General Dagvin Anderson himself, as Commander AFRICOM; Ambassador Peter Vrooman, the Senior Foreign Policy Adviser for AFRICOM; and Command Sergeant Major and Command Senior Enlisted Leader, AFRICOM, Garric M. Banfield. Their presence underscored a broad representation of U.S. diplomatic and military leadership.

On the Nigerian side, several key officials were in attendance, reflecting the country's commitment to security and strategic partnerships. These included Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser; General Christopher Musa (Rtd), the Minister of Defence; General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Defence Staff; and Lieutenant-General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff. Also present were Lieutenant-General Emmanuel Uandiandeye, the Chief of Defence Intelligence; Mohammed Mohammed, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency; and Tosin Ajayi, the Director-General of the Department of State Service. This comprehensive attendance from both sides highlights the strategic nature of the discussions held during the visit.
