Armed Police Standoff: Salford Supermarket Under Siege by 'Weaponized' Burglars

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to Great Cheetham Street East in Salford on Saturday, October 3, 2026, following reports of an attempted aggravated burglary. Armed officers were dispatched to the scene around 9:30 PM due to an initial report of a firearm, which led to neighbouring businesses being forced to close. Images from the location showed police vehicles outside Ades Caribbean food store.

Officers attended the premises as a priority response; however, the suspects had left the scene before their arrival. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and enquiries are currently ongoing. Despite the initial report of a firearm, specialist firearms officers found no such weapon at the scene.

It is understood that nothing was believed to have been taken during the attempted burglary. The GMP spokesperson stated: "We were called shortly before 9:30pm on Saturday 3 October 2026 to reports of an aggravated burglary at a premises on Great Cheetham Street East, Salford. Officers attended as a priority response however the suspects had left the scene. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
