Apple TV's Undisputed Hit Dominates Charts, New Season Imminent!

Ted Lasso, the beloved Apple TV comedy, has made a remarkable return to the streamer's top ten most-watched shows, defying expectations two years after its widely believed series finale. Data from FlixPatrol places the show as the fourth-most-watched on the platform, outperforming other prominent Apple TV originals like Slow Horses and Severance. This resurgence in global interest comes amidst significant anticipation for a fourth season, which is poised to continue Coach Ted Lasso’s story, albeit with a new perspective and thematic direction.
The series first premiered on Apple TV in August 2020, approximately a year after the streaming service launched. Apple TV aimed to make a strong entry into the competitive streaming market with high-concept original content, featuring initial hits such as The Morning Show, For All Mankind, and Mythic Quest. While these shows achieved their own success, Ted Lasso quickly distinguished itself upon its debut, captivating viewers with its endearing narrative. The story followed an American football coach who moves to England to manage a struggling soccer team, winning hearts with its unique blend of humor, warmth, and optimism.
Ted Lasso’s inaugural season garnered widespread critical acclaim and audience adoration, earning numerous Emmy nominations. Its success continued into Season 2, accumulating even more prestigious award nominations. Throughout its initial three seasons, the show amassed an impressive 138 award nominations across various categories, securing 38 wins, with a particular emphasis on the outstanding performances of its cast members.
For its first three seasons, the show’s central mantra was "Believe," a principle Coach Lasso instilled in AFC Richmond, guiding them to victory through hard work and faith. However, Season 4 introduces a fresh rallying cry: "Leap Before They Look." This new slogan signifies a pivotal shift in the series' philosophy. The season's description reveals that Ted will return to Richmond to tackle his "biggest challenge yet," coaching a second-division women's football team. This new journey will see Ted and the team learning to take chances and embrace uncertainty, discovering that taking a leap often leads them exactly where they are meant to be.
Executive producer and star Jason Sudeikis, who portrays Coach Lasso, elaborated on this new theme, stating, "As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,’ in Season 4, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be." Alongside Sudeikis, fan-favorite cast members are also expected to return, including Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton, Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Nick Mohammed as Nathan Shelby, and Juno Temple as Keely Jones, ensuring the continuation of the beloved ensemble dynamic. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates on this highly anticipated new chapter.
