Cuanza Sul's provincial director of Culture and Tourism, Domingos Aníbal, has advocated for improved road maintenance to enhance access to tourist sites and boost the sector. He emphasized that Cuanza Sul, with its rich natural and cultural assets, holds significant tourism potential that requires better infrastructure, consistent public policies, and public-private coordination for economic development and job creation.Domingos Aníbal, the provincial director of Culture and Tourism of Cuanza Sul, recently made a strong case for enhanced road maintenance within the region. Speaking in Sumbe City on Tuesday (29), Aníbal emphasized that improving road infrastructure is crucial for facilitating access to the province's numerous tourist sites, which in turn would significantly boost the local tourism sector. He highlighted that better transport and traffic conditions are fundamental for the movement of both people and goods, ultimately promoting the development and prosperity of local communities.
During a visit to the Maria Bonita Cave in Cuacra, Aníbal reiterated his stance on the importance of infrastructure. He pointed out that Cuanza Sul is rich in natural, cultural, and historical assets, positioning it as a potential major tourist destination. However, he acknowledged that this potential remains largely undeveloped and requires focused attention to be fully realized.
To transform Cuanza Sul's vast tourism potential into tangible economic value, Aníbal stressed the necessity of consistent public policies, greater coordination between the public and private sectors, and a marked improvement in the quality of services offered to visitors. He underscored that a thriving tourism industry can play a vital role in economic diversification and the creation of much-needed job opportunities, particularly for the youth of the province. In addition to the Maria Bonita Cave, the provincial director also visited the Wembele inn and the Cubal River Gorge in the municipality of Quicombo, surveying key sites that contribute to the province's tourism landscape. Cuanza Sul boasts over 100 sites of tourist interest, encompassing a wide array of natural wonders, cultural heritage, and historical landmarks.
