AI Startup 'Emergent' Soars: Indian Vibe-Coding Company Hits $300M Valuation with Massive $70M Boost

Emergent, an Indian startup specializing in an AI-powered “vibe-coding” platform, has successfully raised a significant $70 million in a Series B funding round. This latest investment comes less than four months after the company secured a $23 million Series A, bringing its total funding to $100 million within just seven months of its launch. The Series B round was jointly spearheaded by SoftBank’s Vision Fund 2 and Khosla Ventures, valuing the startup at an impressive $300 million post-money, a substantial increase from its previous valuation of $100 million post-money. Additional participants in this funding round included Prosus, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Together, and Y Combinator.
The rapid influx of capital underscores the intense demand and investor interest in AI startups, particularly those operating in the AI-assisted coding space. Emergent’s platform leverages AI agents to assist users in the entire lifecycle of developing full-stack web and mobile applications, encompassing design, building, testing, and deployment. The startup primarily targets entrepreneurs and small businesses, empowering them to launch products efficiently without the need for extensive engineering teams.
Emergent claims substantial growth, reporting $50 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) and a user base exceeding 5 million across more than 190 countries. The company has ambitious plans to further accelerate its growth, aiming to achieve an ARR of over $100 million by April 2026. Mukund Jha, co-founder of Emergent, noted strong demand across key geographies including the U.S., Europe, and India, with plans for deeper expansion into these markets. He also highlighted the robust adoption of the startup's recently launched mobile app-building service.
While Emergent maintains its headquarters in San Francisco, the majority of its workforce, 70 out of 75 employees, operates from its Bengaluru office in India. The company is actively recruiting across various functions in both countries to support its expansion. Emergent navigates a competitive landscape, vying with other prominent vibe-coding platforms such as Lovable, Cursor, and Replit, all of which have experienced rapid growth. These platforms capitalize on the trend of AI-assisted coding, which allows users to develop their own applications with minimal programming knowledge or skills.
This deal is also noteworthy as it signals SoftBank’s re-engagement in Indian investments, marking its first significant investment in the country since backing Indian commerce startup ElasticRun approximately four years ago. The fresh capital will be strategically deployed to expand Emergent’s team, accelerate product development, and solidify its market presence in its core operating regions.
