ADC Leadership Crisis Intensifies: Top Officials Deny Internal Turmoil

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has vehemently denied recent reports suggesting that the party is facing a leadership crisis at both national and state levels. Senator Abubakar Umar Tutare, a prominent member of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), unequivocally described these allegations as unfounded, attributing them to the handiwork of political detractors and “mischief makers” who lack constructive contributions to Nigeria's development.
Speaking to newsmen at the Taraba State ADC Secretariat in Jalingo, Senator Tutare asserted his complete unawareness of any leadership tussle within the ADC. He stated,
“I am not aware of any leadership tussle in ADC and I have not seen any. It’s a rumour; people are telling you lies. Whatever thing that APC will do to destroy ADC will fail.”
Senator Tutare emphasized that the ADC comprises seasoned individuals who have served in various governmental capacities and are well-equipped to reposition Nigeria. He highlighted the party’s unwavering commitment to advancing the nation’s development and restoring hope to its citizens, contrasting this with the current political landscape.
He expressed concern over the state of the country, noting,
“It is unfortunate that we have a country where leaders don’t have the interest of the common man. Nigerians have seen how the APC is ruling us and destroying the country. I am calling on Nigerians to come out and vote out this government.”
Furthermore, Tutare condemned the growing concern about Nigeria potentially drifting toward a one-party system, accusing the ruling party of actively attempting to dominate the political space.
Projecting confidence in the ADC’s electoral prospects, Senator Tutare declared,
“We are challenging them, and by the grace of God, we are going to defeat them in the general elections. We are going to have 18 House of Assembly members in Taraba State. ADC is fully prepared for the fight.”
Senator Tutare also disclosed that his visit to Jalingo was to assess the level of preparation for the unveiling of the new State ADC Secretariat. As a leader of the coalition in Taraba State, he underscored the importance of ensuring that all arrangements for the significant event were meticulously in place.
