Adamawa Road Crash Claims Six Lives, Including Four NYSC Members on Yola–Mubi Route

A fatal road accident on the Yola–Song Road in Adamawa State has left six people dead, including four members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The crash occurred on Wednesday evening at the Murke (Narehi) section of the highway in Girei–Song Local Government Area and involved a head-on collision between a commercial Hummer bus and a military patrol vehicle. The impact reportedly caused the bus to overturn and catch fire.

According to preliminary reports, all five passengers in the commercial bus were burned beyond recognition, while one soldier in the military vehicle also died at the scene. The corps members were identified as part of those travelling from Yola to Mubi, with authorities confirming the deaths of Suleuman Juliet, Usman Shuaibu, and Hafsat Hassan among the victims. Efforts are ongoing to identify remaining victims and notify their families.

The Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, reportedly came across the accident scene during an official trip and ordered immediate evacuation efforts. Emergency responders, alongside police operatives led by spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje, moved the remains to the Specialist Hospital in Yola.

The State Commissioner of Police has since expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and the NYSC, describing the incident as a devastating loss.
