A$AP Rocky Declares New ‘Helicopter$’ Video to Be ‘JUST GENERATIONAL’

A$AP Rocky recently addressed speculation regarding the creation of his new music video for “Helicopter$,” firmly denying that it was generated using artificial intelligence. The visual, released on Monday, January 12, 2026, marked the rapper’s first music video of the new year. Soon after its release, the video’s distinctive trippy and animated aesthetics prompted online discussions and questions about whether AI was involved in its production. Rocky quickly took to social media platform X to clarify, emphatically stating, “THIS VIDEO IS NOT Ai GENERATED! THIS VIDEO IS NOT Ai GENERATED!” He further added, “JUST GENERATIONAL,” emphasizing the video's unique artistic merit.
The "Helicopter$" video, directed by Dan Streit, showcases the surreal and high-concept visual style that has become a hallmark of A$AP Rocky’s career. It depicts the Harlem artist leading his entourage through an urban landscape in a stolen helicopter, followed by a dramatic police chase. This track is anticipated to be a part of his upcoming fourth studio album, titled "Don’t Be Dumb," which is slated for release on January 16. While an earlier rendition of the song featured Playboi Carti, the officially released version centers solely on A$AP Rocky’s performance.
The release of "Helicopter$" comes just one week after Rocky unveiled the video for “Punk Rocky.” That earlier video featured acclaimed actress Winona Ryder in a starring role and included notable cameo appearances from musician Danny Elfman, bassist Thundercat, and fellow A$AP Mob member A$AP Nast. Winona Ryder’s participation further highlighted A$AP Rocky’s ongoing creative collaboration with renowned filmmaker Tim Burton, who had previously worked with the rapper on artwork for the "Don’t Be Dumb" album. Rocky has openly discussed Burton’s involvement, recalling in an interview with Billboard how he played music from the album for the director. Burton’s reaction, as Rocky recounted, was enthusiastic: “He was rocking his head and he’s like, ‘Wow! I didn’t know you made that kind of music!’” and reportedly, Burton was “f—ing with it heavy.”
Although A$AP Rocky has maintained a degree of secrecy surrounding "Don’t Be Dumb," with an official release date yet to be formally announced beyond the January 16 mention, the album's promotional efforts have been steadily building momentum, indicating its imminent arrival. The creative direction of the album has been characterized as an extension of Rocky's enduring interests in fashion, film, and pushing visual boundaries. Furthermore, his track “Punk Rocky” gained broader exposure by being utilized by ESPN to soundtrack a semifinals promotional spot.
