50 Cent Unveils Explosive 'Sean Combs: The Reckoning' Netflix Doc Featuring Never-Before-Seen Diddy Footage

50 Cent's explosive four-part docuseries, "Sean Combs: The Reckoning," is set to premiere on Netflix on Tuesday, December 2. This highly anticipated documentary delves into the dramatic fall from grace of Bad Boy Records founder Sean "Diddy" Combs, exploring his federal trial and a history of alleged sexual abuse. Ahead of its release, 50 Cent and director Alexandria Stapleton discussed the opus with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, revealing crucial details about its content.
"The Reckoning" features never-before-seen footage of Diddy, which was reportedly intended for a documentary he was allegedly filming prior to his arrest in September 2024. This exclusive material offers a candid glimpse into Combs' world during his legal battles. One notable scene captures Diddy in conversation with his legal team, where he expresses frustration and demands better performance. From what appears to be a hotel room, Diddy is heard imploring, "Listen to me, I am going to let you professionals look at the situation and come back to me with a solution. Y’all are not working together the right way. We’re losing."
Another revealing segment shows Diddy interacting with people in Harlem, only to request hand sanitizer immediately after entering his car. He explains his actions, stating, "I been out in the streets amongst the people, I gotta take a bath. The amount of people I’m coming into contact with, that’s what I have to do." 50 Cent, a long-time antagonist of Diddy, believes this scene is highly indicative of Combs’ manipulative character. Speaking to Roberts, 50 Cent remarked, "It shows you his character. What’s the odds you would do that in front of a camera? That’s one of the moments he forgot he was on tape."
A spokesperson for Combs, Juda Engelmayer, conveyed to the New York Times their deep concern regarding the inclusion of these "private moments" filmed before Diddy’s indictment. Engelmayer stated, "None of this was obtained from Sean Combs or his team, and its inclusion raises very serious questions about how this material was accessed and why Netflix chose to use it." In response to criticisms that he is using the docuseries to fuel a long-standing feud rather than uplift victims' stories, the G-Unit mogul pushed back. 50 Cent clarified, "What they consider a pre-existing beef for 20 years is me being uncomfortable with him suggesting he takes me shopping. I looked at it like I was a tester — like, ‘Maybe you will come play with me.'"
Beyond the private footage, the four-part series also incorporates interviews with two jurors who participated in Combs’ federal trial. These jurors delivered a mixed verdict, finding Combs guilty of prostitution charges but acquitting him of sex trafficking and racketeering. Combs was subsequently sentenced to 50 months in prison in October. The documentary will extensively explore Combs’ trial and his extensive history of alleged sexual abuse. Despite compelling testimony from two former girlfriends during his trial, who alleged physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, Diddy has consistently denied all accusations of sexually assaulting anyone. The docuseries further enhances its narrative through contributions from former associates, friends, artists, and employees who come forward to detail the complex and often dark world behind the Bad Boy empire.
