2027 Shockwave: Kwankwaso Declares Peter Obi Will Be President!

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a prominent figure and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, who serves as the running mate to the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), recently voiced strong confidence in Peter Obi's triumph in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. Kwankwaso's optimistic declaration was made on Friday during a significant event in Kano: the affirmation of consensus aspirants for the party, an exercise he described as a historic moment.

During the affirmation ceremony, Kwankwaso emphatically stated, "I’m talking about Peter Obi, he will be flying our flag, and by the grace of God, on May 29, exactly one year from now, he will have been sworn in as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” The former Kano State governor highlighted the peaceful emergence of consensus candidates as a testament to the remarkable unity among party members within the state. He extended his appreciation to the party's leaders, elders, and supporters for their pivotal role in ensuring a seamless process across all constituencies in Kano. He also noted that several constituencies, despite initially having over 10 aspirants, successfully reached agreements on candidates through consensus.

The affirmation exercise saw several key political figures confirmed for various roles. Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo, the former deputy governor of Kano, was officially affirmed as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election. Similarly, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna secured the senatorial candidacy for Kano Central. Additionally, candidates for the House of Representatives, the State House of Assembly, and other senatorial districts were also duly affirmed, solidifying the party's slate for the forthcoming elections.

Senator Kwankwaso used the occasion to express his gratitude to a broad spectrum of groups that supported the successful execution of the exercise. His thanks went out to members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, the CRC, Lafiya Jari groups, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party, acknowledging their collective efforts. Echoing the sentiment of successful coordination, Mainasara Abubakar Sani, the chairman of the party’s primaries committee, lauded the members for their cooperation, stating, “We have received reports that the exercise was conducted successfully and peacefully. Kano members made our work easier.”

Following his affirmation, Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo, the newly confirmed governorship candidate, addressed the attendees. He pledged to implement an open-door policy should he be elected as governor in 2027, emphasizing transparency and accessibility in his administration. Gwarzo also called upon the youth to maintain their commitment to the movement and continue their steadfast support for the party as the 2027 elections draw closer, underscoring the importance of sustained grassroots engagement.
