2027 Elections: Rivers APC Vows Allegiance to Wike's Directives

The political landscape of Rivers State, particularly in Ahoada West local government area, is currently shaped by the significant influence of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike. During a recent "thank you" visit to the local government area, Wike received overwhelming pledges of unwavering loyalty and commitment from various political factions regarding the upcoming 2027 elections.

Mr. Rejoice Otobo, the local government chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), explicitly stated that the party would strictly adhere to whatever instructions Minister Wike issues concerning the 2027 elections in Rivers State. He emphasized that the people of Ahoada West would not disappoint Wike, acknowledging his contributions to the area. Otobo's declaration, "We await instructions from you on the 2027 elections concerning Rivers State. Wherever you ask us to go, there we shall go; whatever you ask us to do is what we will do," underscored the depth of their allegiance. He further reiterated that all residents, regardless of their affiliations, have decided to follow Wike's political direction.

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Ikechukwu Obuzor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart in Ahoada West, also pledged complete loyalty to Wike. Obuzor credited the Minister with instilling hope in the Ahoada people and assured him of their firm support. "I want to say that we are standing firm with you. Wherever you go, we will go. Be rest assured come 2027, Ahoada West will deliver the needed results for you," Obuzor affirmed.

Local government chairman of Ahoada, Mr. Chita Eugene, hailed Wike as "the political field marshall of South-South" and commended him for the "unprecedented development" he brought to Rivers State during his tenure as governor. Eugene characterized the visit as not merely a thank-you occasion but a celebration of effective leadership and dedicated public service. Victor Obuzor, the House of Representatives member for Ahoada West/Ogba-Egbema/Ndoni federal constituency, also voiced his support, recognizing Wike's positive impact on the LGA and the transformation of Rivers State under his governorship. The Seyi Tinubu Support Group, led by Chidi Amadi, further reinforced this support, extending their commitment to Wike and advocating for President Bola Tinubu's re-election for a second term.

In his address, Minister Wike explained that the purpose of his visit was to express gratitude for the substantial support he and President Tinubu received from the people during the 2023 elections. He lamented that Rivers State had lost its respected political standing on good governance due to "bad governance." Wike, emphasizing the imperative to restore the state's glory in the national political landscape, strongly insisted that Governor Siminalayi Fubara must not be granted a second term. He articulated that this restoration would be achieved by rectifying the leadership missteps in the state in 2027. "Already, Rivers State is being respected because of what we are doing in FCT. We need a leader we can trust to drive our dear state to glory and progress," Wike concluded, laying out a clear political agenda for the future of Rivers State.
