Following Daniel Craig's impactful five-film tenure as the iconic secret agent, which concluded with 2021's No Time To Die, the casting process represents a significant "rebirth" for the legendary franchise.

Taron Egerton, the 35-year-old Rocketman star, has been long-linked to the 007 role, even receiving backing from Roger Moore's son, Geoffrey, in 2019. However, Egerton recently expressed doubts about his suitability, telling Collider, "I don't think I'm a good choice for it, I think I'm too messy for that." He acknowledged his love for James Bond, particularly Daniel Craig's portrayal, but believes the role would be "wasted on me" and that "so many cool, younger actors" would be better suited. Egerton has previous experience in the spy genre, having starred as Gary "Eggsy" Unwin in the Kingsman film franchise. His other notable credits include winning a Golden Globe for portraying Elton John in Rocketman and his recent lead role in the Apple TV+ series Smoke.

There is also ongoing speculation around Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 35, and Henry Cavill, 42, although reports suggest their age (being over 30) might potentially rule them out, despite Mike Dickman, 40, being a frontrunner.
