Zanzibar has achieved a significant milestone in its ambitious drive to attract over one million tourists before 2030, securing three prestigious accolades at the World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony 2026. These honors are set to greatly enhance Zanzibar's profile as a premier tourism destination across Africa, reflecting growing international recognition for its unique attractions, rich cultural heritage, and diverse tourism products. The awards ceremony, hosted in Bwejuu, South Unguja, celebrated Zanzibar's success in being named Africa's Leading Beach Destination 2026, Africa's Leading Festival & Events Destination 2026, and Africa's Leading Regional Tourism Board 2026. These victories collectively affirm Zanzibar's position among Africa's top tourism destinations and highlight the dedicated efforts of both the government and various tourism stakeholders in developing and promoting the sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mudrik Ramadhani Soraga, the Acting Minister for Tourism and Heritage, expressed profound pride in the awards.
