Yvette Nicole Brown to be Honored by Health Project

California Black Women’s Health Project (CABWHP) celebrated its 30th anniversary by honoring Black women, past and present, at the annual Women Who Dared awards. The event took place on Sunday, May 18th, 2025, at the SLS Hotel Beverly Hills. Acclaimed actress, producer, and advocate Yvette Nicole Brown was honored at the event, themed “Rooted in Care & Truth: Nurturing Black Women’s Wellness.”

Yvette Nicole Brown's dedication to caregiving, mental health advocacy, and uplifting Black women's narratives was a key focus of the celebration. She has been a caregiver to her father, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, for the past decade, leading her to become a vocal advocate for caregivers. Brown launched the podcast Squeezed in partnership with Lemonada Media and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a seven-part series exploring the complexities of caregiving across America and emphasizing the importance of self-care and support systems.

Brown uses her platform to address mental health and wellbeing within the Black community, fostering a deeper understanding of the unique challenges faced by Black women and highlighting the importance of representation. She was also celebrated at the 2025 ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards.

Sonya Young Aadam, CEO of California Black Women’s Health Project, stated that Yvette Nicole Brown embodies the essence of a woman who dares, recognizing her dedication to caregiving, candid discussions about mental health, and commitment to telling authentic Black stories. Brown expressed feeling deeply humbled to be honored by the California Black Women’s Health Project, dedicating the moment to every Black woman who dares to care for her family and community.

Yvette Nicole Brown is one of four honorees highlighted at Women Who Dared 2025. Information about the event, tickets, and sponsorship opportunities can be found at www.cabwhp.org/wwd. The California Black Women's Health Project (CABWHP) has been committed to improving the health of Black women and girls through advocacy, education, outreach, and policy for over 30 years.
