YouTube announced a new AI-powered search results carousel on Thursday to help users find video suggestions more easily. The Google-owned video hosting site also expanded its conversational AI to more users.

The new search results carousel will show AI-generated topic descriptions for users to find what they are looking for quickly. For example, YouTube says searching for 'best beaches in Hawaii' would generate an AI carousel highlighting clips from videos showcasing the best snorkel spots and volcanic beaches, complete with descriptions and more videos on how spend the day. YouTube says its works with searches related to shopping travel, and planning vacations.

The feature is similar to AI Overviews in Google Search, which generates summaries of search results at the top of the page.

This can impact creators by affecting user engagement. If someone gets the information they need from the AI search carousel, they may not want to watch the full video.

The feature is available for YouTube Premium members in the US.

YouTube also extended its conversational AI tool to some non-Premium users in the US. The feature was only available in English to Premium users in the US on Android devices so far. It can answer questions, suggest related content, and more, without interrupting the playback experience.
