The activist has been at the forefront in mobilising and raising funds for slain teacher Albert Ojwanga.
She was among the youth who showed up in Nairobi's CBD to seek justice for the murder of Ojwang, who died in a police cell.
Hanifa wrote:
"One of the goons beat me up, took my phone, and I caught his jacket trying to get my phone back as he continued bodying me. Other people joined and caught him. I took my phone, and he got beaten up! He hit me on my backside till my leg shook. Thanks to @fit_ermined and @upendomoja for coming to my rescue."

In a separate report, the X bigwig was in 2024 forced to share an audit report showing how KSh 31 million raised through M-Changa was distributed.
Kenyans rallied to support to help bury Gen Zs and millennials who were killed during the anti-government protests.
However, Kenyans demanded to know how each family received funds after some started questioning Hanifa to be accountable.
Hanifa shared a breakdown showing proof of how much she received and the different beneficiaries of the contribution.

Elsewhere, Hanifa had an exchange with presidential aspirant Morara Kebaso at Gigiri Police Station following Okiya Omtatah's arrest.
Hanifa accused Morara of advising people to avoid the demonstrations, which signalled a leadership crisis with the protests.
She also put Morara on the spot to choose which side he was adding, that he was the one who claimed that she had been paid.
