CS Mbadi Revokes Ex-Governor Wangamati's Appointment

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has officially revoked the appointment of Wycliffe Wangamati as the chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees. This revocation, enacted through an official Gazette Notice, became effective on Friday, June 27, marking the end of Wangamati's tenure after precisely one year and 19 days in the position. The notice explicitly stated, "In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 (1) (a) of the Public Service Superannuation Scheme Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning revokes the appointment of Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati as the chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees, with effect from June 27, 2025."
The role of the chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board is critical, involving the oversight of the scheme's comprehensive management and administration, along with guiding its overarching strategic direction. Wangamati was initially appointed to this significant role in June of the previous year by the then-Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung'u, with an expectation to serve a full three-year term. Prior to this, Wangamati held the position of the second governor of Bungoma County. His professional background also includes extensive experience in senior management roles within the pensions and investment consultancy sector, both domestically and internationally, underscoring his expertise in related fields.
