The family spokesperson Kenneth Ouma was hosted on the Obinna show, and he revealed the amount they have in the joint account.

Ouma revealed that they set up the official paybill account for public contributions on the day Albert's autopsy report was shared.

"We did a paybill, which we shared with the public. It is the same paybill that Hanifa shared. Kenyan of goodwill, for example, Eric Omondi, also did a paybill in good faith. We have checked the paybill and realised that it leads to the official family account. We have also been made aware that there is a fake one. It was shared by a pseudo account impersonating Eric," he said.

Ouma also dismissed Eric's estimation that the public donations had reached KSh 10 million. According to him, Kenyans, particularly members of the public, have raised KSh 2.06 million.

He also confirmed that President William Ruto and former prime minister Raila Odinga had sent their KSh 2 million and KSh 1 million donations, respectively.

According to him, all the money that had been raised is KSh 5.06 million as of Monday, June 23.

"Eric did not say that there's 10 million unless I saw a different video. He made an assumption that we could have KSh 10 million. So as we speak, I can confirm to you that we don't have KSh 10 million. We have about 2.06 million in this account that is official," Ouma said.

He continued:

"We have a central account where all donations are channelled. As of yesterday (Monday, June 23), we were at KSh 2.06. That's from the general public. So, the one for the president and the one from Raila are also in the same account. The account is about KSh 5.6 million. President Ruto and Raila had sent their contributions."

Previously, Eric expressed his disappointment after Albert’s father, Meshack Opiyo, accepted a KSh 2 million donation from President Ruto.

The comedian, who was among the first to rally support for the grieving family, felt betrayed by the acceptance of funds from a government he holds responsible for Albert's death.

Eric also shared that the Kenyan public had shown overwhelming support, contributing significantly after he posted the family’s contact details and opened a paybill number to help raise funds.

In a related story, Albert's family lamented after allegedly being swindled of more than KSh 500,000 raised by well-wishers for his burial and family support.

The family claimed the funds mysteriously disappeared from Opiyo's M-Pesa account.

Albert’s uncle, Polycarp Odhiambo, claimed the amount raised through Eric's Sisi Kwa Sisi was stolen.
