Kochi: An elderly woman lost her life after being struck by lightning in Angamaly around 4pm on Wednesday. Vijayamma, 73, of Vengoor, is the deceased.
Lightning struck her as she went to the kitchen porch to collect clothes hung outside drying. Although she was rushed to a private hospital in Angamaly, her life could not be saved. She sustained burns on her neck. Her mortal remains are currently at the mortuary of Little Flower Hospital, and her eyes have been donated. Vijayamma was married to the late Velayudhan. She is survived by her children Rameshan, Raghu (councillor of ward no. 10, Angamaly) and Rama.
