Wizarding World Casting Coup: 'Pirates' & 'Derry Girls' Stars Join New Harry Potter Adaptation!

Pottermore Publishing and Audible have unveiled a remarkable expansion to the cast of the highly anticipated Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions, bringing the total ensemble to over 200 members. This ambitious project promises an unparalleled audio experience, aiming to capture the essence of J.K. Rowling’s original texts while offering fans a richly layered new way to engage with the beloved wizarding world.
Among the exciting new additions are several distinguished actors taking on iconic roles. Bill Nighy, who previously appeared in the films as Minister for Magic Rufus Scrimgeour, returns to the Wizarding World as Professor Slughorn. Other notable cast members announced include Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù as Sirius Black, Anna Maxwell Martin as Rita Skeeter, Saoirse-Monica Jackson as Professor Trelawney, Mackenzie Crook as Kreacher, Stephen Mangan as Nearly Headless Nick, and Tracy-Ann Oberman as Madam Hooch.
A particularly poignant casting announcement is David Holmes, the original stunt double for Harry Potter in the films, who will now lend his voice to Stan Shunpike, the Knight Bus conductor. Holmes described this as a “full-circle moment,” expressing his thrill and honor in being part of the audio project after his previous involvement. Bill Nighy also shared his delight in taking on a new, thrilling role, noting his unique achievement of playing both a Minister of Magic and a Professor within the franchise.
These new talents join an already stellar lineup that includes Hugh Laurie as Albus Dumbledore, Matthew Macfadyen as Lord Voldemort, Riz Ahmed as Professor Snape, and Cush Jumbo serving as the narrator. The previously revealed cast also features Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart, Keira Knightley as Dolores Umbridge, Iwan Rheon as Remus Lupin, Ruth Wilson as Bellatrix Lestrange, Gemma Whelan as Professor Sprout, and Mark Addy as Hagrid.
The audio series will also introduce a mix of rising stars for the central trio: Frankie Treadaway, Max Lester, and Arabella Stanton will portray Harry, Ron, and Hermione for the first three audiobooks, with Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan, and Nina Barker-Francis taking over for the subsequent four. Further casting details include Millie Gubby as Luna Lovegood, Jude Farrant and Maximus Evans sharing the role of Draco Malfoy, and Jake Sigsworth and Archie Mountain alternating as Neville Longbottom across the seven adaptations.
The journey into Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions begins with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, set to debut on November 4, 2025.
