Dida died in September 2024 after a long battle with cancer while she was in Turkey undergoing treatment.

Her boss, TV journalist Lulu Hassan, announced her passing and asked netizens to pray for her family.

She had earned a name on TV after playing the role of Dida on the Sultana show and her death not only shocked her colleagues but Kenyans at large.

Recently, her mother shared a video on her TikTok page narrating how she discovered she had cancer despite eating healthy for most of her life.

"It is very important to change your lifestyle, to live a healthy life. If we are going to stay strong and live long we must look at our diet. I am going to share this journey with you so you know where I came from, how I got cancer and what I am doing to remain like this," she said.

Dida's mum recalled eating food from the shamba while growing up and the only time they would change diet was when they had guests or during holiday seasons like Easter and Christmas.

She noted that as a family they planted their food, which prevented her from going to the hospital.

"I rarely got sick. I got measles when I was young and apart from that the only time I was hospitalised was when I was giving birth. That was at 25 I think. So imagine from the age that I can remember I have never been hospitalised," she added

According to Mama Bwire, she got married and now that she could afford modern meals, she changed her diet.

Her husband also loved meat, so they ate it daily, and with time, she started developing heartburn and constipation, and before she knew it, she was in the hospital.

However, the doctors could not find any issue, and they advised her to drink milk to clear the heartburn, but she only got sicker.

It was after 15 years that she was diagnosed with cancer which got her thinking about where the issue began.

However, Dida's mum has been cancer-free for over 10 years and has encouraged netizens to be mindful of what they are eating.
