Why Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' Mikayla, Mayci Don't Want Miranda | In Touch Weekly
Although may be the newcomer to season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, she’s hardly new to the tight-knit Salt Lake City MomTok scene. Best known for her role in the viral 2022 “soft swinging” scandal alongside former friend , her return to the spotlight — and to MomTok — isn’t exactly being welcomed with open arms, especially by and .
Fans got more insight into the fallout between Miranda and Taylor following the “soft swinging” scandal during season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which premiered in May 2025.
Taylor and Miranda were once close friends, but they made headlines in 2022 when Taylor revealed that she and her then-husband, , had been involved in “soft swinging” within their close-knit friend group. The arrangement — which also included Miranda and her now ex-husband, Chase McWhorter — involved consensual partner swapping, though not all interactions were sexual as later members of the group accused Chase and Taylor of having feelings for each other.
“Miranda, she was a swinger. She was very much involved in the whole situation, but Miranda and Chase, her husband, during the time denied everything and tried to make Taylor look like a villain. And so that’s why I feel like we all have a hard time with Miranda,” Mayci said in a confessional during episode 2. “I definitely think Miranda sees how well MomTok is doing, and now she’s just coming on back, even though she doesn’t talk to any of us for, like, two and a half years. It doesn’t feel like the intention’s pure.”
Meanwhile, Mikayla was ready for Miranda to make her way out of the group. “MomTok is my chosen family and I’ve become more protective over it, so ideally, I would love for Whitney and Miranda to link up and leave all of us alone. A girl can dream,” she told the cameras.
As for Miranda, she admitted that she “wasn’t ready to own” up to her actions and had shame talking about the situation. “This is, like, awkward to talk about, like, with the church and, like, family and everything. Like, it still was shameful and uncomfortable to bring up,” she explained.
Taylor responded that she felt “very left” by Miranda when their conflict ignited online. “I feel like Miranda thinks I led Chase on while they were still married, because I told him that I had, like, a sex dream about him, and honestly, I didn’t think anything of it because of what we were doing. That seemed so mild to me,” Taylor explained in a confessional. “I really didn’t think a dream was a big deal, considering we’re making out with each other and touching each other on the weekends.”
After Chase declared his feelings for Taylor at the gym, she owned up that she should’ve come to Miranda directly rather than tell their friend group.
Taylor said she “completely” understood where she was coming from and admitted she didn’t handle the situation the right way.
