Where Do Stars Splurge? Unveiling Each State's Priciest Zip Codes!

Real estate prices across the country have experienced a significant surge in recent years, a trend accompanied by rising mortgage rates, making homeownership increasingly challenging, especially in high cost-of-living states. A study by RealtyHop delved into this phenomenon, identifying the zip codes with the highest median home sale prices, revealing where buyers are spending the most to secure a property.

Florida and California emerged as dominant forces in the luxury real estate market. Florida led the nation with its 33109 zip code, encompassing the exclusive Fisher Island just off Miami Beach. This opulent enclave reported a staggering median sale price of $10.8 million, attracting high-profile residents such as Jeff Bezos and Tom Brady. California followed closely, with its 94027 zip code, located in the heart of Silicon Valley and the Bay Area, securing the second spot. This area, known for its tech billionaires and athletes like Steph Curry, saw a median home price of $10.35 million. The high costs in California align with recent surveys, including one by Redfin, which designated it as the most expensive state for home purchases.

Further down the list, but still featuring ultra-luxury properties, New York's most expensive zip code, 11962, is found not in New York City but in Sagaponack, on the eastern tip of Long Island within the Hamptons. Here, properties along the ocean command premium prices, though the median is significantly lower than the $10-million-plus tags in Florida and California. Neighboring New Jersey secured fourth place with its 07620 zip code in Alpine, situated across the Hudson River from Yonkers, New York. This area, popular with celebrities like Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan, and Eddie Murphy, had a median sale price of $5.1 million.

Surprisingly, Wyoming claimed fifth place with its 83025 zip code in Teton Village, where real estate shoppers face a median sale price of $5 million. Teton Village's proximity to the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort likely contributes to its hefty price tags, attracting residents such as Harrison Ford and Sandra Bullock.

The top 10 states featuring the most expensive zip codes in the country are:

  1. Florida: 33109
  2. California: 94027
