What I discussed with Tinubu during private meeting - Segun Showunmi
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Segun Showunmi, has disclosed what he discussed with President Bola Tinubu during the private meeting they had recently.
Sowunmi shocked many last weekend when he paid a visit to President Tinubu in his Lagos residence during the Sallah holiday.
The PDP chieftain had been very critical of Tinubu’s administration and never missed an opportunity to express his reservation.
With many Nigerians believing that his recent visit is a preamble to defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Sowunmi in an interview on Channels TV revealed what he discussed with Tinubu.
“I wanted to be sure that the thought process of President Bola Tinubu’s policies is well clear to him and his expected outcome is also pretty much a destination that is known,” Sowunmi said.
Speaking further on why he decided to pay a visit to the president, the PDP chieftain said he had a deep relationship with Tinubu, dating back to 1994 when they got to know each other.
Sowunmi explained that he visited Tinubu to discuss and know clearly why opposition political parties have always blamed his government for their crises.
He also heaped plaudits on the president, saying that Tinubu’s brain is active, having answered all the questions he asked him with intelligence.
“First of all, his brain is very alert. He’s fit, never mind that he is frail. The kind of questions I asked him – you know when you’re asking someone questions and the person is answering without looking at a book – and he is answering it the way he sees it and you’re agreeing,” he said.
