Chairman Wontumi made an entrance at the venue — the University of Ghana Stadium, dressed in a neatly tailored NPP-themed agbada and accompanied by a contingent of uniformed security personnel.
Responding to questions from journalists, he expressed gratitude to God and to all those who contributed financially and supported the organization of the event, acknowledging the hard work and resources involved.
"We give thanks to God and express our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed financially to make this programme possible. Organising such an event requires both hard work and significant resources, and we deeply appreciate the support we received," he said.
He also thanked the National Council of the party for ensuring the event took place despite challenges.
"I also thank Almighty God for guiding the National Council of the party, whose dedication and perseverance ensured that this event took place despite the challenges," he added.
In May this year, Chairman Wontumi became the subject of a major criminal investigation involving allegations of fraud, causing financial loss to the state, and money laundering, according to Ghana’s Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Justice Srem-Sai.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service had earlier invited Mr Boasiako to assist with ongoing investigations linked to alleged illegal mining (galamsey) activities.
However, after honouring the CID’s invitation, he was subsequently picked up by EOCO officials and transported to their head office for further questioning, reportedly on related issues.
He was released in June from the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office, five days after securing bail.
