Logan Paul’s investment in a stick used by “The Great One” during his final Stanley Cup-winning season with the Edmonton Oilers has redefined the market for NHL memorabilia. The premium auction, handled by Sotheby’s, took place during the 2024 Stanley Cup Finals and quickly drew global attention. Previously, the highest-selling Gretzky stick fetched $138,600 in 2022—this sale more than doubled that figure.The stick was originally in the possession of Rick Elaschuk, a former Oilers equipment manager, who kept it preserved before deciding to sell.

Gretzky used the stick during the 1988 Stanley Cup run—his last championship victory before being traded to the Los Angeles Kings.

Paul discussed the purchase on his reality series Paul American, which airs on HBO and Max.
