A 62-year-old spectator was injured when an advertising board fell during Alexander Zverev's match at the Halle Open tennis tournament in Berlin on Wednesday. Zverev quickly provided an ice pack to help the injured woman, who was later taken to a local hospital as a precaution.Tournament director Ralf Weber addressed the incident in a statement: "There has never been anything like this in our 32-year tournament history. SUBSCRIBE NOW!The organisers offered the spectator a season ticket for next year's tournament as compensation for the incident.Zverev, the world number three, went on to defeat American Marcos Giron 6-2, 6-1, securing his place in the last 16 of the Wimbledon warm-up event where he will face Lorenzo Sonego.
"It was a great match from me," Zverev said. "I felt like I didn't let him play that well, which was important."Daniil Medvedev progressed to the quarter-finals after defeating France's Quentin Halys 6-2, 7-5, becoming the first player to reach this stage of the tournament.In other matches, Alex Michelsen defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6 (7/5), 7-5, with Karen Khachanov also securing a straight-sets victory, over Zizou Bergs.World number one Jannik Sinner is scheduled to play against 2023 Halle champion Alexander Bublik on Thursday, with a quarter-final spot at stake.
