Wanga wants all ODM members to support broad based government

ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga has urged party members to avoid attacking the broad-based government, which she said will transform the lives of many citizens.
A few members of ODM have recently expressed dissenting opinions on the broad-based government.
Former ODM National Chairman John Mbadi recently complained that some ODM members were engrossed in criticising the broad-based government unduly.
Mbadi accused ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna of his persistent criticism of the broad-based government.
He argued that Sifuna’s criticism risked causing failure in the government's performance.
“Mr Sifuna, I am still a member of your party. But if I fail to deliver, you will not have a reason to convince Kenyans that the ODM party can form a government in the future. Stop acting like our enemy,” said Mbadi.
Sifuna had maintained that he would criticise the government in case of any wrongdoing, and his efforts would not be deterred by the broad-based government arrangement.
But ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga has come out to give a direction to the party officials with dissenting positions on the broad-based government.
Speaking at Pala Koguta trading centre in South Kabuoch ward, Ndhiwa Constituency, during relief food distribution, Wanga said ODM signed an official memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate with the government.
“It is official that we signed an MoU between ODM and the Kenya Kwanza Government. This means we are working with the government,” said Wanga.
She said every ODM member should own the MoU and respect the agreement by supporting the broad-based government.
“We are in the broad-based government, and what we need to do as members of the ODM party is to support the government and all its programmes,” said Wanga.
Wanga who was accompanied by the County Secretary Benard Muok and the County Assembly Majority Leader Richard Ogindo, told leaders who are not satisfied with the broad-based government to calm down and be patient. She said there were many fruits of the broad-based government which residents of ODM strongholds are going to benefit from in the near future.
“I know we may not see satisfactory improvements in service delivery immediately. But there are some that Kenyans have begun seeing, especially in the health sector. There are also several development projects going on in ODM strongholds,” Wanga said.
She told leaders in the area that the broad-based government was different from the handshake government, which ODM had with the administration of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“In the handshake government, we were promised a sword for taking power, but we never saw it. In the broad-based government, we have been promised development projects that are already going on. Let us support it,” Wanga added.
