WAFCON 2024: Super Falcons hit Zambia 5-0 to reach semifinal

Nigeria Super Falcons, Friday qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing WAFCON after a dominating 5-0 win over Zambia’s Copper Queens in the quarter-finals. ‎

The match, played in Casablanca, showcased the Super Falcons’ exceptional skill and teamwork from the onset. ‎

Osinachi Ohale scored the opening goal in the second minute, nodding home Esther Okoronkwo’s free-kick. ‎

Esther Okoronkwo then doubled Nigeria’s lead, assisted by captain Rasheedat Ajibade.

Chinwendu Ihezuo further solidified the team’s lead with a goal on the 45 minutes to hit a comfortable 3-0 at halftime.

‎Despite Zambia’s efforts to regroup and mount pressure on Nigeria’s defense in the second half, the Super Falcons’ resilience and determination proved too strong.

‎Oluwatosin Demehin netted the fourth goal via a header, and Folashade Ijamilusi completed the rout by tapping-in Ajibade’s cross.

‎Nigeria remains unbeaten and yet to concede a goal in the tournament, a testament to the team’s strong defense and determination.

The Super Falcons, who are looking for their 19th title, will now face the winners of the South Africa and Senegal match in the semifinals.
