Viral Public Display: Woman Box Dyes Hair on Train, Sparks Online Debate

A woman named Vera has ignited a fierce debate online after taking the unconventional step of dyeing her hair on a public train, citing her 'Type B' personality and a hair appointment as her reasons. The incident, which she documented on TikTok, quickly went viral, prompting strong reactions from both fellow passengers and social media users.
Vera was seen applying box dye to her curly locks while seated in the train carriage, complete with plastic gloves. She then proceeded to the train's toilet to finish the process. However, her actions resulted in a significant mess, with dye visible on her shoulders and even on the walls of the toilet. Despite the visible disarray and the public nature of her endeavor, Vera stated, "This was so embarrassing but I was not embarrassed."
The scene did not go unnoticed by other commuters. Another passenger, Micaela, shared her own video on TikTok, expressing disbelief. "I'm all for a quick make-up top up on the tube but this woman was full on box dyeing her hair!" Micaela wrote, adding that she initially couldn't believe Vera would actually apply the dye. Micaela even tagged Transport for London in her caption, drawing official attention to the incident. Vera later commented on Micaela's video, confirming her identity: "OMG, this is me!"
The act sparked widespread criticism in the comments section of both videos. Many users raised concerns about the strong chemicals typically found in box hair dye, particularly ammonia, and the potential health implications for others in a confined space. Comments included, "No consideration for others?? My parents have raging sinus issues and there's many people that can't breath those chemicals in hair dye like ammonia," and "Those fumes aren’t meant for confined spaces especially around kids, the warnings on every box dye." Some expressed frustration over a perceived lack of decorum in public, while others warned of legal repercussions due to potential allergic reactions from fellow passengers.
Despite the significant backlash, some individuals came to Vera's defense. Supporters argued that her actions demonstrated efficiency, with one comment stating, "You know what? I respect it. Go ahead babe!" Another echoed this sentiment, writing, "As she should - like we are we wasting 20 minutes on the train when we can do so much! We are busy - girls gotta do what a girl’s gotta do." This divide in opinion highlights contrasting views on personal liberty versus public responsibility in shared spaces.
