If rumors are to be believed, 2x NBA champion Kevin Durant will leave the Phoenix Suns and begin another new chapter in his career.

Well, in that case, this will be the fifth franchise that KD plays for in his career. However, considering the fact that Durant still has a year left on his current contract, he will have to demand a trade to find a new home.

Many teams have been proposed as potential destinations for the Slim Reaper, including the Toronto Raptors. Any team that Durant joins, he will likely make an instant impact and that’s what NBA legend Vince Carter believes.

When Durant was traded to the Suns, many questioned his fit on the roster with Devin Booker. But in his debut itself, KD silenced his critics with a 23-point performance on 10-of-15 shooting.

After seeing his excellent debut for the Suns, Carter had nothing but praise for the former NBA MVP and hailed him as an ‘unselfish superstar’ on a segment of ESPN’s Get Up in 2023.

“KD is able to play with anybody, any superstar, and I think he learned that lesson playing with the Golden State Warriors. When he first got to Golden State, it was a little bumpy,” Carter said.

He added: “… Once he figured out how to play with other superstars and still be himself? He took off. Now, every time we see KD step on the floor with anyone, he gets his [points] but he’s an unselfish superstar.”

Fast forward to now and Durant is on the verge of leaving the Suns, but can he really be blamed for it? After all, he held up his end of the bargain, but the Suns front office failed to build a strong roster around him.

The biggest reason behind their underwhelming stint is undoubtedly gutting their depth to acquire Bradley Beal, who has a no-trade clause in his contract.

Coming to what’s next for the Slim Reaper, how about a trade to the Minnesota Timberwolves? The T-Wolves have faced back-to-back conference finals eliminations in the postseason.

While Anthony Edwards has improved as a leader, he still lacks a veteran presence on the roster who can take over the game when required.

Durant can be that teammate for him. Moreover, the Timberwolves have assets to trade for KD and still save some spots for a good supporting cast around the Durant-Edwards duo.

The 36-year-old’s unselfish basketball style will be of huge benefit to Ant and this may turn out to be the final piece missing in the puzzle.
