Falz Addresses Bobrisky Relationship Rumors and Lawsuit Update

Nigerian rapper and lawyer Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has publicly addressed and denied any romantic or close relationship with controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky. This clarification comes in response to a leaked phone conversation between Falz and Bobrisky that went viral in 2024, initially shared by social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM). VDM alleged that the conversation indicated Falz was in communication with Bobrisky while the latter was incarcerated.

Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, Falz explained the circumstances surrounding the phone call. He stated that he had no prior relationship with Bobrisky before the call. According to Falz, Bobrisky reached out to him via Instagram, seeking legal assistance regarding a case. Falz recounted, "He messaged me on Instagram and said, 'I’m in this case and I want to speak to you about how you can help.'" He emphasized that this was not an unusual occurrence, as he receives many similar requests for help. "This is not a special case; it’s not exceptional in any way," he added, noting that he often responds out of compassion. Falz did express some regret over the call, mentioning he "will be much more conscious" in the future.

Falz also provided an update on the defamation lawsuit filed by him and his father, esteemed lawyer Femi Falana (SAN), against VeryDarkMan. The suit was initiated after VDM's allegations concerning Falz, Bobrisky, and claims that Falz and his father received money to clear Bobrisky's name. Falz confirmed the case is proceeding, stating, "We filed the case and ever since we filed the case, they have never entered the defense. Instead, they entered a preliminary objection saying the court doesn’t have jurisdiction to hear the case or something." He further clarified the current status: "As at the last date, I was in court. The court has thrown out that preliminary objection. Now they have to enter a defense or the court will just go on to rule on the case." This update suggests the lawsuit is active.

For context, Bobrisky (Idris Okuneye) was sentenced to six months in prison in April 2024 for the offense of mutilating naira notes and was subsequently released in August 2024. VeryDarkMan has also been involved in several legal disputes related to allegations of cyberbullying and defamation.

The interview where Falz made these clarifications has generated various reactions online, with some commenters urging for the matter to be put to rest, while others expressed opinions on the legal proceedings and the individuals involved.
