Video: Pain as Protesters' Hands Are Blown Off by Tear Gas Canister During Gen Z Demos

A painful scene has been witnessed at the Central Business District after a teargas canister exploded in a protester's hands during Gen Z protests.

The canister exploded when the demonstrators picked it up after an anti-riot police officer fired it to disperse protesters.

The young man aimed to throw the tear gas back at the anti-riot police officers, but unfortunately, he ended up blowing off his hands.

A video captured the man being assisted by other protesters who wrapped his injured hands in a cloth before putting him on a motorcycle and rushing to a medical facility.

"Tafadhali, tafadhali..Don't worry, you're going to get paid. Please take us to he hospital, on first aider in a reflector was heard saying.

Another man was heard warning protesters against trying to hold teargas canisters once they have been fired by the police.

"Msishike teargas tena! I am sorry, mahn, I am sorry," one man said.

At the same time two men have been rushed to the Kenyatta National Hospital after they were shot by anti-riot police officers.

Videos that ciruclated online showed on of the men who had sustained a gun shot wound wailing in pain as he was being received by the medical personnel at the KNH.

One of the protesters who had helped in rushing the injured to the hospital recounted how events unfolded.

He claimed that a group of five police officers surrounded them and began attacking. The protester shared that one man was critically injured after he was shot on the head.
