The Deputy President of the Senate and First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has publicly distanced himself from calls by various groups, most notably the Northern Nigeria Progressive Youth Assembly (NNPYA), urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to select him as his running mate for the 2027 general election. In a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Jibrin described such campaigns as
