Gachagua had joined national and county leaders, alongside his spouse Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, to offer condolences to the family of the late Janet Marania Teiyaa, the former Kajiado county woman representative.

He described Teiyaa as a "remarkable leader and a dedicated advocate for our community," highlighting her passion for making a positive impact and stressing that her legacy would continue to inspire future generations.

"Her loss is deeply felt by all who had the honour of knowing and working with her," he said, offering support to Teiyaa’s grieving family.

However, during his address to the crowd, Gachagua was met with pro-Ruto chants from some residents.

"Ruto! Ruto! Ruto!" the crowd chanted, dismissing efforts to calm them down.

Despite the rain and disruptions, the former Mathira Member of Parliament remained firm and continued his speech.

Security officers attempted to manage the situation, but the crowd stood their ground, voicing their support for President William Ruto.

This incident comes amid increasing cases of heckling directed at public officials especially Ruto and his allies, despite calls for respect and patience to allow the Kenya Kwanza administration time to fulfil its promises.

Gachagua, who has been openly critical of the government he served in for two years, has, however, continued to enjoy the support of a section of Kenyans.

During his condolence speech, Gachagua attempted to downplay the influence of the UDA Party, which garnered support from some but also faced dissent from a few voices in the crowd.

Meanwhile, Ruto dismissed growing public chants demanding his resignation, likening them to past political slogans such as “Moi must go,” which he described as routine political rhetoric.

Speaking during a public address, Ruto shrugged off personal attacks and nicknames, saying he remains unfazed and focused on key national priorities including education, electrification, infrastructure, and devolution.

He reiterated his commitment to moving the country forward and welcomed support from all quarters to achieve that goal.
