The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Borno State is facing an internal struggle as its Critical Youths Stakeholders Forum (CYSF) has issued a stern warning against the infiltration of 'political jobbers' and 'transactional politicians' ahead of the 2027 general elections. During a press conference held in Maiduguri, Hon. Yusuf Sheriff Banki, Chairman of the CYSF, declared that the party would no longer tolerate individuals attempting to hijack its structure for personal gain.

Banki, though refraining from naming specific individuals, described these 'political merchants' as Abuja-based figures who are largely unknown in their local constituencies. He alleged that these individuals are making concerted efforts, potentially in collaboration with the state's ruling party, to undermine the ADC, which he characterized as the new 'bride' of the state's political landscape. The CYSF is committed to registering new members across Borno State, fostering an environment free from ethnic and religious biases, and vowed to expose any politicians seeking to compromise the party's integrity.

The CYSF chairman further elaborated on the motives of these politicians, stating that they are desperately battling to hijack the party's soul and structure for personal relevance and political survival. He accused them of consistently being compromised, thriving in opposition since 1999, and strategically positioning themselves to exploit the opposition party as merely an emblem for personal enrichment. Banki highlighted their fluctuating ideologies, comparing their loyalty to 'kerosene that evaporates the moment heat is applied,' and asserted that they act as 'political parasites' to any platform offering temporary political oxygen.

These characters, according to Banki, are seeking to position their cronies within the party, intending to 'auction the party and trade the soul of the party for a price,' a practice he labeled as their 'usual stock in trade.' He implored the founding members of the ADC, who have dedicated personal resources to sustain the party, not to idly watch as these politicians, described as having only a 'sprinkling of followers,' attempt to seize control and become 'Chief Executive Officers (CEOs)' of the Borno State ADC.

Banki emphatically maintained that the ADC in Borno State is not for sale and that its integrity will not be surrendered to transactional politicians seeking the party as their next vehicle for personal benefit. He also recalled that these same individuals had previously made frantic efforts to sabotage the collective efforts during the successful unveiling of the ADC in the state. The CYSF has called upon the national body of the ADC to intervene, identify, and remove these disruptive elements to safeguard the party's future.
