Unveiling Tomorrow's Tech Titans: MotorTrend Announces Cutting-Edge Vehicle Innovator Awards Finalists

MotorTrend, a leading automotive media brand, has proudly announced the finalists for its fourth annual Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) Innovator Awards. This prestigious program is presented in partnership with QNX, a division of BlackBerry Limited, renowned for its technology utilized by countless automakers globally, and Vector, a prominent solution provider for software-defined systems within the automotive industry and beyond. The awards, set for 2026, are dedicated to celebrating the software superstars who are at the forefront of driving automotive innovation, acknowledging their pivotal role in shaping the future of vehicles.
The SDV Innovator Awards stand out as the first and only program of its kind to honor the pioneers, leaders, and experts who are actively redefining automotive innovation. These individuals and teams are instrumental in writing the next chapter of the automobile's 120-plus year history. This year's exceptional field of candidates comprises world-renowned SDV leaders from global automakers and suppliers. Their work encompasses groundbreaking advancements in crucial areas such as operating systems, AI assistants, digital cockpits, Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), and autonomous driving. These innovations are fundamentally redefining how cars are designed, built, driven, and experienced, ultimately leading to the creation of smarter and better-connected vehicles.
Winners of the awards, which will be recognized across three distinct categories, will be selected from an impressive list of 23 companies. These finalists include Audi AG, Cummins, DIMO, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Google, Honda Motor Co, Ltd, Jaguar Land Rover, KPIT Technologies, LG Electronics, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd, Mercedes-Benz AG, Mercedes-Benz Research and Development, Motional, Nio, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc, Range Energy, Rivian, SDVerse, Tesla, Toyota Connected North America, Toyota Motor North America, and Xiaomi Technology MicroVision Tri Lidar Architecture.
As in previous years, a distinguished panel of jurors from MotorTrend’s editorial team will undertake the rigorous task of selecting the winners for the 2026 SDV Innovator Awards in the Pioneer, Leader, and Expert categories. The highly anticipated reveal of these winners will take place at the fourth annual SDV Innovator Awards Gala, held in partnership with QNX and Vector, during CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
