Unveiling Jeremy Strong's Method: The Intense Journey to Embody Mark Zuckerberg

Collider's Steve Weintraub recently sat down with actress Wunmi Mosaku to discuss her role in the new film, The Social Reckoning. During the interview, Mosaku shared insights into her preparation process, the advice she received from Idris Elba, and her experience working opposite Jeremy Strong, who portrays Mark Zuckerberg with a distinct method acting approach. Sixteen years after his Academy Award-winning work on The Social Network, writer Aaron Sorkin revisits the complex world of Facebook and its CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, with this companion piece.

The inspiration for The Social Reckoning came from the collaboration between whistleblower Frances Haugen and reporter Jeff Horwitz. Mosaku revealed that Idris Elba, a previous collaborator with Sorkin, offered crucial advice. Elba persistently questioned her about her line memorization, warning her, “No, there is no chill, because if you don't know your lines, you're in trouble.” He then supported her, emphasizing the necessity of meticulous preparation for Sorkin's work, which felt like a return to her drama school days. She described marking her script rigorously, focusing on every word and punctuation, and even learning other actors' lines to ensure seamless cues.

Regarding her experience with Jeremy Strong's method acting as Mark Zuckerberg, Mosaku noted that while she had worked with others who claimed to be method actors, none came as close to Strong's immersion. She described Strong as
