Unveiled: 2027 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe EV Roars onto the Scene with Electric Power

The 2027 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe EV is poised to set a new benchmark for high-performance electric vehicles, combining formidable power with an immersive sensory experience. This groundbreaking electric model will offer an astounding output of up to 1,153 horsepower and a gargantuan 1,475 lb-ft of torque, pushing the boundaries of what is expected from an EV.

One of the most distinctive and surprising features of the new GT 4-Door Coupe EV is its meticulously crafted V-8 engine soundtrack. Despite being an all-electric car, Mercedes-AMG has implemented a sophisticated, intelligent real-time mixing system. This system utilizes over 1,600 sound files, all digitized from recordings of actual AMG V-8 engines, to sonically interpret each driving situation. The result is an authentic, hard-edged V-8 rumble that rises and falls in perfect sync with the driver's input and the digital tachometer, creating an exhilarating auditory experience reminiscent of an AMG GT3 race car. Mercedes-AMG has deliberately chosen to amplify a core element of its brand DNA, offering what is described as "laugh-out-loud theater" for the driver, rather than conforming to typical EV silence or artificial futuristic sounds.

The foundation of this extreme performance lies in an advanced all-wheel-drive powertrain, comprising three axial-flux motors: one positioned at the front axle and two at the rear. These potent motors are supplied with energy by a liquid-cooled 106-kWh (net) battery, all integrated within an 800-volt electrical architecture. This cutting-edge setup ensures efficient power delivery and rapid charging capabilities.

The top-of-the-range GT63 model, scheduled for release in the U.S. in early 2027, will showcase the pinnacle of this powertrain with its total system output of 1,153 hp and 1,475 lb-ft of torque. This immense power enables the substantial 5,450-pound four-door coupe to achieve a blistering acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 2.0 seconds and from 0 to 124 mph in a mere 6.4 seconds. For vehicles equipped with the optional Driver’s package, the top speed is an impressive 186 mph.

For those seeking a powerful yet slightly less extreme option, a GT55 model is also slated for release in the U.S. in late 2026. The GT55 will still deliver formidable performance with 805 hp and 1,328 lb-ft of torque. While its acceleration figures are slightly more modest—taking four-tenths of a second longer than the GT63 to reach 60 mph and 2.3 seconds more to hit 124 mph—it still achieves an identical top speed of 186 mph when fitted with the optional Driver’s package.

Intriguingly, Mercedes-AMG engineers have hinted at even greater performance potential from this new platform. They revealed that the GT 4-Door Coupe’s high-performance electrical architecture has been designed to handle outputs exceeding 1,350 hp. This suggests the distinct possibility of even more potent variants emerging in the future, with a Black Series version not being an unlikely prospect, further capitalizing on the capabilities of the all-new AMG.EA electric vehicle architecture.

Regarding environmental specifications, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupé is rated with a combined energy consumption of 21.0-17.9 kWh/100 km and combined CO2 emissions of 0 g/km, placing it in CO2 class A.
