Unmasking the Beatles: First Look at Paul Mescal & Barry Keoghan in Biopics

Sony Pictures has begun marketing The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, an unprecedented project scheduled for a simultaneous global release on April 7, 2028.
The event will feature four interconnected biopics, each exploring the life and career of a different member of the legendary Fab Four.
The campaign kicked off with a unique promotional strategy: hidden postcards were placed around the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA), and students were tasked with finding sets of four, each depicting one of the lead actors in character.
The first-look images were shared on the school’s Instagram account and by students, generating widespread excitement.
LIPA’s involvement is particularly meaningful, as the school was co-founded by Paul McCartney and occupies the former Liverpool Institute High School for Boys, attended by both McCartney and George Harrison.
Lead Cast Brings Beatles to Life
The central cast features Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr.
Early images hint at the different eras depicted in the films: McCartney appears in the band’s early Cavern Club days, while Lennon, Harrison, and Starr are shown with shaggier appearances, reflecting their later, more mature years.
The films also include an impressive supporting cast.
Saoirse Ronan plays McCartney’s wife Linda Eastman, Anna Sawai portrays Lennon’s wife Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood plays Harrison’s wife Pattie Boyd, and Mia McKenna-Bruce stars as Ringo’s wife Maureen Starkey.
Other notable figures include James Norton as manager Brian Epstein, Harry Lloyd as producer George Martin, David Morrissey as Jim McCartney, Leanne Best as Mimi Smith, Bobby Schofield as Neil Aspinall, Daniel Hoffmann-Gill as Mal Evans, Arthur Darvill as press agent Derek Taylor, and Adam Pally as record executive Allen Klein.
Sam Mendes Directs with Interwoven Narratives
Acclaimed Director Sam Mendes will helm all four films, with scripts written by Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan, and Jack Thorne.
Each film offers a unique perspective from one of the Beatles, creating a seamless narrative that tells the band’s story as a whole.
Mendes described the project as an opportunity to “challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” promising an immersive cinematic experience unlike any other.
The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event is set for a worldwide release on April 7, 2028.
The simultaneous release strategy invites fans to fully immerse themselves in the Beatles’ journey, offering a unique theatrical binge-watching experience and redefining film distribution for a global audience.
