Unlock Youth: 15-Minute Non-Surgical Facelift Erases 7 Years, Say Enthusiasts

A personal account from a beauty editor reveals the journey to combatting the onset of jowls and a 'turkey neck,' a common concern for many, especially as they approach their mid-forties. The author first noticed her disappearing jawline and saggy pouches during a work Zoom call, followed by the appearance of crepey, crinkled skin on her upper neck. At 45, she felt too young for a drastic surgical facelift, sparking a search for less invasive, yet effective, 'tweakments.'
Her research led her to injectable skin-firming treatments derived from a patient's own blood cells, commonly known as PRP (Platelet-Rich-Plasma) or the 'Vampire facial.' These procedures are renowned for boosting collagen production, tightening skin, and improving elasticity. However, she soon learned of a more advanced version: Meta Cell Technology (MCT).
Dr. Sophie Shotter, an aesthetics doctor based in London and Kent, provided a detailed explanation of MCT. Like PRP, MCT begins with taking a blood sample and extracting the plasma, which is rich in platelets—cells vital for releasing growth factors. The key differentiator for MCT lies in its unique processing: some of the extracted plasma is exposed to specific heat and light conditions within an MCT machine. This process significantly enhances its regenerative potential by releasing a higher concentration of growth factors, along with exosomes, which are crucial regenerative messengers from the body’s own cells.
According to Dr. Shotter, MCT is essentially a 'turbo-charged' version of PRP, boasting three times as many growth factors. When this specially processed plasma is injected back into targeted areas such as the face, neck, or décolletage, it signals the body's cells to stimulate growth and repair. The result is improved skin texture and enhanced elasticity, leading to a firmer and more youthful appearance. Dr. Shotter emphasized that MCT offers a 'skin-tightening, rather than a lifting effect,' making the skin behave more youthfully.
The treatment, while an investment, offers a less invasive and costly alternative to a facelift. A single session costs £1,050, with a recommended course of three sessions totaling £3,150, significantly less than the upwards of £10,000 for surgery. Furthermore, MCT is considered very safe due to its use of the patient's own cells, which drastically minimizes the risk of adverse reactions. Potential side effects are mild and temporary, including small bumps at injection sites, bruising, or brief sensations of warmth or itchiness, typically resolving within 24 hours to ten days.
The author embarked on a three-session treatment plan. The initial step involved a blood sample, followed by the application of numbing cream to minimize discomfort from the multiple injections. Dr. Shotter meticulously injected the lower face, jawline, and the front section of the neck. While not entirely painless, the treatment itself was quick, lasting less than 15 minutes for approximately 60 injections. Post-treatment, the face was tender, blotchy, and bumpy, but these effects subsided by the next morning.
As predicted by Dr. Shotter, no significant difference was observed after the first session. However, following the second treatment three weeks later, the author noticed a distinct improvement: her jawline felt firmer, her jowls were less obvious, and her neck appeared much smoother. After the third and final session, the results were transformative. Her entire lower face looked more toned, the sagging was considerably reduced, and her jawline became more defined. The 'turkey waddle' had practically disappeared, and her neck felt less crepey, regaining elasticity. The treatment provided a significant confidence boost, with friends inquiring about her skincare routine, unaware of the underlying treatment. Even a make-up artist mistook her age for 38 instead of 45, and her husband noted she looked 'less tired.' The author expressed delight in feeling fresher, more youthful, and appreciating the natural-looking definition to her lower face, confidently ready for any future Zoom calls.
