Unlock Nigeria's Digital World: Latest MTN Data Plans Revealed!

MTN Nigeria has significantly updated its data plans, with new prices and improved offerings effective February 2025. The company now provides a wide array of browsing options, ranging from entry-level mobile plans to high-capacity bundles for broadband services, catering to individuals and businesses alike. The primary USSD subscription code for MTN Data Plans in Nigeria has been updated to *312*1#, replacing the old code 131 for text-based subscriptions, which now uses 312.

The cheapest monthly data plan now starts at ₦1,500, offering 2GB of data, a notable increase from the previous ₦1,000 for 1.2GB. This entry-level plan also includes free 2GB All Night streaming and 200MB YouTube Day Streaming, providing enhanced value. For users seeking more data on a limited budget, options like the 2.7GB plan at ₦2,000 and the 3.5GB plan at ₦2,500 are available. Other popular monthly bundles include 7GB for ₦3,500, 10GB for ₦4,500, 12.5GB for ₦5,500, and 16.5GB for ₦6,500. Several plans, such as the 2GB, 2.7GB, 3.5GB, 10GB, and 16.5GB bundles, retain bundled free call minutes, with up to 10 minutes for higher capacity plans. The 20GB (₦7,500) and 25GB (₦9,000) plans are bundled with 4GB of Free Night Streaming. For heavier data users or office settings, plans like the 36GB (₦11,000) and the 165GB (₦35,000) are recommended, with the latter supporting data rollover.

MTN also offers multi-month data bundles for extended validity periods. These include bi-monthly options such as 90GB for ₦25,000 and 150GB for ₦40,000, both valid for 60 days. Quarterly plans like the 450GB Broadband Plan for ₦75,000 (best for routers) and the 480GB Broadband Plan for ₦90,000 are available for 90 days. For long-term needs, yearly plans offer 800GB for ₦125,000 and a massive 1.5TB for ₦225,000, specifically for routers.

Unlimited data plans have seen a resurgence, with MTN restoring its Silver and Ruby Unlimited Data Plans in March 2025. These plans, accessed via a router through shop.mtn.ng, come with a Fair Usage Policy (FUP). Once the FUP limit is exceeded, users are allocated a daily data limit for the remainder of their subscription. Examples include the Silver Monthly Unlimited Data Plan (150GB FUP, ₦30,000, with 2GB daily after FUP) and the Ruby Unlimited Data Plan (260GB FUP, ₦45,000, with 2GB daily after FUP). Other unlimited plans include Bronze (80GB FUP, ₦15,000), Gold (400GB FUP, ₦45,000), Diamond (550GB FUP, ₦60,000), and Platinum 6 Months (1.5TB FUP, ₦165,000). These plans are particularly suitable for MTN 5G Routers.

For truly unlimited data without FUP, MTN offers FiberX plans via fiber-optic cable. This service provides super-fast broadband internet to homes, offices, schools, and businesses. MTN provides free equipment and installation, requiring only a booking for installation and selection of a suitable plan. FiberX plans include Basic (50Mbps for ₦25,000), Standard (100Mbps for ₦45,000), Premium (300Mbps for ₦100,000), and Prestige (1Gbps for ₦200,000), all with 30-day validity. FiberX is currently available in select parts of Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, Oyo, Ogun, Anambra, Rivers, Edo, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Kaduna, Delta, Kwara, Cross River, and Kano, with plans to expand to 8 million homes by 2028.

Beyond monthly and multi-month options, MTN also offers various weekly, daily, hourly, and night browsing bundles. Weekly plans include 11GB for ₦3,500, 6GB for ₦2,500, and 1.5GB for ₦1,000. Daily plans range from 75MB for ₦75 to 2.5GB for ₦750, with some 2-day plans also available. Night Browsing Broadband plans offer 90GB for ₦12,000 or 150GB for ₦18,000, valid from 12 am to 7 am. Hourly bundles provide high data volumes for short periods, such as 10GB for ₦1,000, valid for one hour.

For social media enthusiasts, MTN GoodyBag Social plans are available, offering access to platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Ayoba, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. These are accessible by dialing *312*3#, with weekly plans costing ₦50 and monthly plans costing ₦150 per platform.

Checking your MTN data balance is simple: SMS '2' to 312, and you will receive a text message with your remaining data balance and expiry date. MTN supports 4G LTE across its network. To get automatic 4G/3G settings, text SETTINGS to 3888. Manual settings (APN: web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net, IP: 10.199.212.2, Port: 8080 or 9201, Username: web, Password: web) are also provided. For browsing devices, MTN offers 4G Broadband MiFi (₦15,000 with 30GB free data) and 4G standard (₦20,000) and premium (₦40,000) routers. MTN launched its commercial 5G network in Nigeria in August 2022 and offers a 5G Router for ₦80,000, bundled with 100GB of free data, supporting high download and upload speeds. While weekend data plans have been suspended, the availability of 2-day plans can serve similar purposes. Pay-as-you-go browsing is available at ₦3.07/MB by dialing *312*200#, but subscribing to a data bundle is more cost-effective.
