U.S. Airports at Risk of Newark-Level Chaos-Summer Travel Nightmare Looms

Published 5 days ago3 minute read

Travelers are already under stress as there have been so many changes in the TSA guidelines. Moreover, the Real ID has been made mandatory. They are trying to manage with alternate IDs while also applying at the DMV for a Real ID.

Despite TSA’s stating there are no problems or delays, people have spoken about their bad experiences with them being rude and dismissive.

And now comes the warning from the US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. If you’re traveling in and out of Newark Airport, prepare to suffer delays. The secretary has come up with warnings for all airports, but specifically Newark, to suffer technological disruptions.

He says this may happen in the coming weeks as the airport is busy and they aren’t technologically equipped to deal with the inflow and outflow of passengers. Moreover, the cutdown on the hiring has also led to fewer hands on board.

The repeated outages at Newark under Duffy’s watch show a clear failure in maintaining critical infrastructure. His leadership is jeopardizing safety and efficiency. It’s time for a change.

In Duffy’s “Meet the Press” on NBC, he said there will be problems like delays in the next several weeks, so he is cautioning the passengers. Besides, the issue isn’t isolated and could impact more airports. He said what people are experiencing at this airport, now may happen at other airports soon across the country. Concerned about the whole airspace, he said, this needs to be fixed soon.

The recent issue was a 90-second blackout on the radar, leaving confusion and disruption. This is unforgivable at a busy airport, causing technical problems and flight delays. The ground delay lasted for 45 minutes, and there were several cancellations due to this. At the end, it was the passengers who suffered the most.

8 years.

That’s how long you went silent on anything involving “Newark Airport,” despite it being a complete disaster zone.

Duffy assured that the authorities would find a solution to the problem. One of his solutions is to reduce the number of flights so there is less pressure on the system. Moreover, he is about to discuss this with top officials to revamp the air traffic control system soon. He blamed the old network for the issues and plans to change it soon.

Many people have expressed disappointment over the news. X is full of rants about how one of the passengers was clearly asked not to fly from Newark and change the flight to some other airport. Since there was a 45-minute stop due to a 90-second radar outage, people were stranded at the airport. Many netizens are asking Duffy to resign.

They blame him for not paying attention to the equipment. Their views remain the same on how lackadaisical he was about the upgrades in technology. Moreover, there were cuts in hiring, so there were fewer people to handle such situations.

There has been preferential hiring of the democrats in the sector, and yet they won’t be blamed for avoidable errors. Now, everyone is wondering how many years it will take for the air traffic control to recover from all the neglect of the past years.
