Two youths drown in Akola dam

Akola: In a heart-wrenching incident, two 18-year-old youths drowned in a dam near Boramli-Chelgaon in Barshitakli tehsil of Akola district on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Yogesh Ashruba Dahale and Kartik Krishna Dahale, both residents of Chikhalgaon.Eyewitnesses said the duo entered the dam waters to bathe unaware of the depth. They were soon swept into deeper waters and could not be rescued in time.Local official Raju Patil informed the administration upon learning of the incident. Acting on the directives of tehsildar Rajesh Vaze, the Sant Gadge Baba emergency search and rescue team of Manav Seva Disaster Management Foundation was dispatched to the site.The team — led by Deepak Sadafale and comprising Mayur Saledar, Shekhar Kewat, Ankush Sadafale, Vishnu Kewat, Kishor Tayade, Shivam Wankhade, and Sarthak Wankhade — launched an immediate search operation under challenging conditions.After several hours of effort in nearly 20-ft-deep water, both bodies were retrieved. Officials from the Barshitakli police station were also present at the scene during the recovery operation.
