Accra, June 27, GNA-Today, June 27, 2025, marks two years since the people of Assin North made a resounding statement at the ballot box, reasserting their democratic will and reclaiming their representation.

Mr James Gyakye Quayson, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North, reflected on this occasion, emphasizing the significance of justice, democracy, and renewal.

In a statement issued by Mr Quayson, the MP on Friday, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, it highlighted the MP’s focus on renewal since his acquittal on April 9, 2025, after a prolonged legal battle.

It said: “On April 9, 2025, after a prolonged and painful legal journey, I was fully acquitted. In that moment of vindication, I echoed the conviction I carried throughout the trial: “I was not fighting for myself alone, but for every Ghanaian who believes in justice, democracy, and the right to serve.”

“In the time since, I have not sought retribution or revenge. Instead, I have focused on renewal—of purpose, of promise, and of service,” it added.

The statement noted that the MP’s initiatives aimed to deliver economic opportunities, particularly for the youth, through vocational training, enterprise development, and grassroots entrepreneurship.

It further emphasized the importance of empowering the youth and leveraging the contributions of the diaspora.

“Ghanaians abroad are not guests in our future—they are co-builders of it,” it stated, highlighting the vital role of remittances, expertise, and investment in national transformation.

According to the statement, the MP had dedicated energy to building bridges between the diaspora and key sectors of the economy, including agriculture, digital innovation, renewable energy, and education.

Citing Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s iconic phrase, “We face neither East nor West; we face forward,” it quoted Mr Quayson reiterating his commitment to a forward-facing vision for Ghana.

This vision, it explained, prioritizes service, justice, and accountability, aiming to uplift and empower citizens through sustainable structures that restored dignity and built local wealth.

The statement expressed the MP’s gratitude to the people of Assin North and all Ghanaians who stood with him in spirit and principle.

“Your faith fuels my focus. Your resilience renews my resolve,” it said, calling for collective action to build a Ghana that not only defends democracy but delivers its dividends.

“Let us build a Ghana where service is sacred, justice is real, and leadership is accountable.”
