Twilight Swan House: Want to live like Bella Swan? Oregon's 'Twilight Swan House' can be your stay at THIS price | - Times of India
Ever dreamt of stepping into the world of Twilight? Wandering in and around dense wood, while constantly cribbing about wet weather? Having a vampire boyfriend and werewolf best friend, AND a super-human power, much-coveted by the clan of super vampires? Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but you can’t really have all that – the key reason being, none of these are real (?).
However, what you can have is access to the Swan stay!Remember the iconic house where Bella Swan lived with her father, Charlie, before she married into the Cullen clan? Yep, turns out that property is rentable!Want to know more? Read on!
So, here’s your chance: You can rent Bella Swan’s iconic house in St. Helens, Oregon – the real‑life backdrop of the saga’s gloomy Pacific Northwest vibes. How?
Amber and Dean, both 40+ years old, stumbled into owning Twilight royalty in 2018, paying $360K – which was $10K above asking price – to outbid other buyers and preserve the home’s filming legacy.
Amber spotted the listing immediately, thanks to her online Twilight‑prop hobby, and they followed up with a heartfelt offer letter and a hefty down payment. While the original platform purchased the home with no business mindset, their motivation was clear: To stop the house from being remodeled and losing its cinematic charm. Now, the home has been meticulously restored to mirror the film’s on‑screen charm with original props (yes, even Bella’s purple bedspread) and clever nods to Team Edward and Team Jacob.
After transforming the property into a magical tourist destination, Amber and Dean now earn an estimated $140K a year in gross rental income.
When Amber and Dean Neufeld bought Bella Swan’s house, growing a business wasn’t the sole purpose behind that bold move. Rather, the Twilight superfans lovingly restored it to screen‑accurate perfection, nabbing props like Charlie’s original dining table, and now fans worldwide vie for the opportunity to sleep in Bella’s bedroom.
Though the house retained original flooring, fixtures, and exteriors used in filming, it needed a considerable amount of TLC. Dean worked evenings after his day job repairing leaks, patching walls, hammering floors, while Amber scoured auctions and fan networks for original or replica props – bedding used in the film, the very dining table seen in Charlie’s kitchen – and other nostalgia‑heavy décor. All in all, they spent about $20,000 revitalizing the interior to closely match what fans remember onscreen. In early 2019, the Twilight home quietly launched as an Airbnb rental, and as a matter of fact – bookings were slow initially. However, everything changed in 2020, when a viral TikTok clip showcasing a guest reenacting Bella gazing out her bedroom window took off with millions of views. That surge overwhelmed Airbnb’s booking system, pushing the Neufelds to launch their own booking website. And as one would’ve expected, reservations began selling out instantly – even up to a year in advance – often in minutes after opening!Dean told the NY Post, “Life was never the same,” adding, “Our bookings were filled the moment they were open, and it’s never slowed down ever since.”
Despite the surging demand, the Neufelds stayed true to a mission: Affordability. Even though weekend rates reach around $400–$450 per night, they resist raising prices purely to increase profits.
Amber told the NY Post, “We don’t really want to charge more,” adding, “It’s not just, ‘How can we make the most money?’ It’s really always been, ‘How much can we charge and still put money back into the house and pay the mortgage?’”Amber revealed that, after paying mortgage payments and maintenance costs, the couple profits around $60,000 a year.
For Amber and Dean, preserving the film‑set authenticity has been as important as the money. When buying the house, Amber said in her interview with Fortune that she was more concerned about saving the house and not letting it lose its “filming history.”
Even all these years later, the movie remains incredibly popular, now appreciated by a second generation of fans discovering “Twilight” through streaming platforms and social media. As per Amber, “What actually happened, surprisingly often, was the teenagers — the second generation — getting into Twilight too!”The couple and the staff treat the property like a museum people stay in, curating each room as a piece of memorabilia – while still welcoming respectful fans who appreciate the nostalgia. What started as a fangirl impulse purchase grew into a thoughtful, quirky – on top of that, a financially viable – endeavor. Today, almost two decades after the launch of the first film of the franchise (Twilight), the Swan House isn’t just a vacation rental: it’s a cultural shrine that honors a beloved franchise while offering fans immersive nostalgia, at an honest price. Amber and Dean didn’t just buy a home; they chose to preserve and celebrate a story.
And now, you can experience the taste of it too – well, not maybe at the speed of Edward’s runs or Alice’s visions – but you can definitely sprint to your laptop to book a stay!
